Your favorites and singing history are stored locally on your device only, using standard on-device storage. They are not uploaded, synced, or shared with us or anyone else. Your own party queue also lives on your device; the only time any of it leaves your device is if you host an online party, described next.
If you delete Mic Night from your device, this data is deleted with it.
Online parties (in the web app) let friends join a shared queue from their own phones using a short room code. To make that work, the app uses Google Firebase (anonymous sign-in and the Cloud Firestore database). Here is what is involved:
Use any nickname you like; we never ask for your real name. Party data is used only to run the party. We don't use it for advertising, we don't sell it, and we don't build profiles. Google processes it on our behalf (see Firebase privacy information), and, like any online service, may handle technical data such as your IP address to deliver the service.
Mic Night sends a small, anonymous counter each time you sing a song, each time you tap a locked (paid-pack) song you don't own, and at a few steps of the purchase flow (for example opening the pack browser, tapping Buy, or a purchase succeeding or being cancelled). We also count a few anonymous app events, such as the app being opened or a party being started, and we add three coarse labels to the counters: the platform (iPhone or iPad, Mac, or web), a two-letter country code, and which screen a step started from. These are stored in our Firebase database as plain per-day totals, such as "this song was played 12 times today," with no name, account, anonymous session ID, device ID, or advertising identifier attached. The counts are aggregated across all users and used for one thing: deciding which songs belong in the free book versus a paid pack, so the free experience stays worth singing and the paid packs stay worth buying. We never build a profile of you individually, and there's no way to trace a count back to a person or a device.
On the web app, paid packs and access passes are bought through Stripe, a payment processor. Stripe collects your payment details and email address on its own checkout page; they never pass through our servers, and we never see or store your card number. Stripe's handling of that data is described in the Stripe Privacy Policy.
After a purchase, Stripe tells us what was bought. We store a record in our Firebase database, linked to your anonymous session ID, of what you own (packs, access pass or subscription, free trial and access start and end times) and, for subscriptions, your Stripe customer ID so you can manage billing. We use it only to unlock what you bought. In the iOS app, purchases are handled by Apple through the App Store, and we do not receive your payment details or Apple ID.
The pages at sviewstudios.com, including the Mic Night song lists, guides, comparison pages and this policy, use Google Analytics 4 to count visits, pages viewed, approximate location and the kind of device. Google may set cookies or similar identifiers for this. It applies to the website only and not to the Mic Night app. We use it to learn which pages help people find the app, and we do not use it for advertising or combine it with anything from inside the app. You can block it with a content blocker or your browser settings, and the pages work the same without it.
Mic Night is a songbook and a queue manager, it doesn't host or stream video itself. Every song in Mic Night's catalog is pre-matched to a karaoke video ahead of time, so when you pick a song, Mic Night plays it directly in the official embedded YouTube player inside the app. There's no live YouTube search while you use the app, no YouTube API key for you to set up, and Mic Night never opens the YouTube app or a browser to play a video.
Mic Night uses YouTube API Services. By using Mic Night's playback features you also agree to the YouTube Terms of Service, and YouTube/Google's handling of data during playback is governed by the Google Privacy Policy.
What the API integration touches, concretely:
To remove data Mic Night stores on your device (favorites, history, queue), use the clear options in Settings or delete the app. Because we don't use Google sign-in, there is no Mic Night access to revoke on your Google account; if you ever want to review third-party access to your Google account generally, visit your Google security settings.
Mic Night doesn't knowingly collect personal information from children, and it asks for no ages, emails, or accounts. If a child joins an online party, the only information involved is an anonymous session ID and whatever nickname they type, which is shared with that party and used only to run it. We suggest using nicknames rather than real names.
If this policy changes, we'll update the effective date above and post the new version at the same location. Given how little the app does with data, we don't expect this to change often.
