Privacy Policy

Effective date: September 6, 2026

QuizKeepers is a live class quiz you can use with no account, for the teacher or for students. We built it to collect as little as possible, especially from students. This page explains exactly what that means.

The short version

What a game stores

When you host a game, the only thing saved is the game's live state: the questions and choices you set up, the game's mode (Devices or Room), the chosen screen theme, and a random code that identifies the room. This is stored on our hosting provider's database (Google Firebase / Cloud Firestore) so that the screen, the host, and every joined player see the same live question and results.

A room is identified only by its random code. Anyone with the code can join it in Devices mode. The correct answer is never included in the question data while a question is live; it's only written once the host reveals it.

Students who join

A student joining a game gives only a nickname (checked for profanity and made unique within the room) and, in Team mode, a team choice. We don't ask a student for an email, phone number, or any other contact detail. Their answers and score for that game are stored against their nickname and a random device identifier for that browser or app install, so the game can tell players apart. Rooms and the records tied to them are not reused after a game ends.

Cloud sync (Pro, optional)

If you turn on sync, you sign in with Apple or Google and your quizzes (including any photos you attached to questions), reports, and settings are stored in our hosting provider's database (Google Firebase / Cloud Firestore), keyed to your account and readable only by you. Nothing syncs while you are signed out, and Setup's "Delete cloud copy" removes every synced record and signs you out. Your Apple or Google sign-in gives us a user id and, depending on the provider and your choices, an email address; we use them only to key your data.

Photos on questions

A photo you attach to a question lives on your device with the quiz. During a live game it is sent, like the question text, to the room so joined screens and players can see it, and it is removed with the room. If you sync, it is stored with your quiz as described above.

AI quiz maker

When a teacher generates questions from pasted notes, a PDF, or question-and-answer pairs, only the text they provide is sent to our AI function and, from there, to our model provider, to produce draft questions. Nothing sent for generation is stored on our servers; the drafts are returned to the teacher's device, and nothing is saved until a question is accepted into the quiz.

Reports

A per-game report (question results, player answers and scores, class average) is saved locally on the host's device, up to the last 20 games, and can be exported as CSV. It is not stored on our servers beyond what the live game already held while in progress.

Logo upload (QuizKeepers Pro)

If a teacher adds a brand line to a Pro game, it's stored alongside that game's data, keyed to the same random code, so the screen can display it. It is not linked to anyone's identity, just to the code.

On the host's device

QuizKeepers keeps saved quizzes, reports, and settings in local storage on the host's device. This never leaves the device, and clearing app data or browser storage removes it.

Optional anonymous analytics

QuizKeepers may use Firebase Analytics to understand which features are used, for example, that a game started or a quiz was generated with AI. These events are anonymous and identify only the event name, never a room code, nickname, or anything typed. This can be used to improve the app; it is never sold.

In-App Purchase

QuizKeepers Pro is a one-time in-app purchase handled entirely by Apple. We never see or store your payment information. Apple's own privacy policy covers that transaction.

What we don't do

Data retention

Rooms are single use: they're not reopened or reused once a game ends, and we may periodically clean up old room data. Because rooms hold no personal information beyond the nicknames students choose and are keyed only by a random code, there's nothing tied to a student's identity to remove.

Children

QuizKeepers is built for classroom use. Students join with nicknames only, there are no accounts, and nothing beyond a nickname is ever collected from anyone who joins a room. QuizKeepers does not knowingly collect personal information beyond that from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update the date above. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated policy.
