Get a step-by-step explanation
See how an equation, fraction, derivative or integral is worked out, one step at a time, from the History panel.
Steps shows the method behind an answer: for example solving a linear equation, using the quadratic formula, adding fractions, expanding, factoring, derivatives, integrals and limits.
- Do the calculation on the calculator as usual, so that it appears in History.
- Open History from the top bar. If a step-by-step explanation exists for an entry, a Steps button appears under it.
- Tap Steps. A sheet titled "Step by step" opens and shows the first step.
- Tap "Next step" to reveal one step at a time, or "Show all" to see them together. For some equations a Method label shows which method was used (such as Factoring or Quadratic formula).
- The last line is the Answer. Tap "Copy steps" to copy the whole explanation.
Tips
- Without Pro you get 3 free explanations a day. The sheet shows how many are left. Opening an entry you already opened today is free. Pro has no limit.
- If an entry has no Steps button, it is not supported yet ("No step-by-step explanation for this entry").
- Steps are switched off during exam practice.
