Use the subject toolkits
The toolkits are small interactive tools: a triangle solver, unit circle, conics explorer, distribution visualizer, chemistry tools and personal finance.
Toolkits are free. Each one is a mini app for a topic, with sliders, pictures and an explanation next to the numbers.
- Open the reference library and choose the Toolkits chip.
- Pick a toolkit: Triangle solver, Unit circle, Conics explorer, Distribution visualizer, Chemistry toolkit or Personal finance.
- Triangle solver: fill in exactly three of the sides and angles. It solves the triangle and draws it to scale, and it shows both triangles for the ambiguous SSA case.
- Unit circle: drag the point around the circle (or use the arrow keys) to see exact sine, cosine and tangent for special angles.
- Conics explorer: choose a circle, ellipse, parabola or hyperbola and move the sliders to see foci, vertices and asymptotes.
- Distribution visualizer: choose normal, t, chi-square, binomial or Poisson, shade an area, find a cut-off, or paste a list of data for a histogram and box plot.
- Chemistry toolkit: count significant figures, convert scientific notation, use the periodic table, find molar mass, and convert units.
- Personal finance: loans, compound interest, savings goals and credit-card payoff, with charts.
- Many toolkits show a Calculate or keys hint so you can repeat the result on your own calculator.
Tips
- Use the toolkit to check your answer after you have tried it by hand.
- The search box in the library also finds toolkits by topic words, such as "ambiguous case" or "molar mass".

- Solve any triangle with the solver toolUse the Triangle solver in the Reference library when you know three parts of a triangle and want the rest, drawn to scale.
- Calculate molar massAdd up the atomic masses of every atom in a formula, like glucose C₆H₁₂O₆, to get grams per mole.
