Use sliders and movable points in the graph canvas
Turn letters into sliders to see how a graph changes, play them as an animation, and drag points around.
Sliders make it easy to see what each number in an equation does, for example how m and b change the line y = mx + b.
- Type an equation with letters you have not defined yet, such as y = mx + b. A message says "Define m, b." with buttons under it.
- Tap a letter button to add a slider for it, or tap all to add every slider at once.
- Drag a slider and watch the graph change. The line above the slider updates to the new value, for example m = 2.5.
- Tap the number at either end of a slider to change its smallest value, largest value and step.
- Tap the play button next to a slider to animate it back and forth. Tap it again to stop.
- To make a point you can drag, use slider letters for its coordinates: type (a, b) with sliders for a and b. Big dots on the graph can be dragged, and the sliders follow.
- A point like (a, f(a)) moves along the curve of f when you drag it.
Tips
- You can also type a value yourself, for example a = 3, and a slider appears.
- Definitions can be in any order: a line may use a slider defined below it.
