Mic Night vs KaraFun: which one for your karaoke party?

KaraFun is the best-known karaoke app for hosts, and it is a strong product. If you are looking for a KaraFun alternative, the honest question is what kind of night you are running. This page compares the two on the things a host actually feels: what is free, how guests add songs, how you pay, and which features only one of them has.

We checked public store listings and vendor pages on October 20, 2026. Anything we could not confirm directly is marked unverified. Check the vendor page for current prices before you decide.

Where Mic Night fits better

Mic Night is built for the living room, the family reunion and the friends-night-in. Hosting is free, so you can run a full evening before you spend anything, and the free book of more than 1,300 songs is a real catalog, not a sampler. Guests open a QR code or room code in their phone browser and add songs to a fair queue that rotates singers.

If you do not like subscriptions, the pricing is the main difference. Pro and song packs are one-time purchases that you keep. A Party Pass is $2.99 for 48 hours and does not renew. All Access at $19.99 a year is the only recurring option, and it is optional.

Where KaraFun is the better pick

KaraFun has a much larger catalog, voice scoring, a quiz mode, key and tempo changes and offline playback. If your group wants a competition, or you need to change a song's key to fit a voice, KaraFun does that today and Mic Night does not.

If you run karaoke at a bar or venue, KaraFun also sells a commercial plan with a permanent QR code and branding. Mic Night does not offer a venue plan.

A note on prices
