Create your first program with NEW
Make a program called HELLO that shows a message, then run it from the EXEC tab.
The quickest way to learn the program editor is a one-line program. HELLO uses Disp to show the text HI on the home screen.
Text in a program goes between quote marks. The quote mark is the ALPHA layer of the + key, and A-LOCK (2nd, ALPHA) keeps letters on while you type a word.
Classic Graphing 84
Start on the main screen: Press 2nd then mode (QUIT) to get back to the home screen. Pressing clear on a menu also backs out of it.
Press PRGM, press the left arrow to jump to the NEW tab, and press 1 (Create New).

prgm▶3Press 2nd, ALPHA to lock letters. Type a quote (+ key), H (^), I (x²) and another quote, then press ALPHA to unlock.

Tips
- Disp can show several things at once: Disp "SUM",A+B shows each one on its own line.
- If a letter goes in wrong, use the arrows and DEL to fix it. Every change is saved as you type.
