Practise with exam-style restrictions

Exam practice hides features that many exam rooms do not allow, and can run a timer. It is for practice only and is not approved for real exams.

Open in Trident

Exam practice lets you rehearse with the calculator limited the way many tests limit it. The presets are our own summary of typical rules, not any exam board's policy. Trident is not approved for real exams, so always check your exam's current rules with your teacher.

  1. Open Settings and find Exam practice. Tap Set up.
  2. Choose a preset: AP Calculus style, AP Statistics style, SAT style, IB style, A-level style, or Custom. Each shows a short description.
  3. Read the Restrictions list. Pro labs are always hidden. The presets also hide the symbolic algebra (CAS) model, the reference library and the graph examples. IB and A-level styles also hide the history panel. With Custom you choose each restriction yourself, including "Decimal answers only (Natural models)".
  4. Choose a Timer: Count up, or Countdown with the number of minutes.
  5. Tap Start practice. A banner at the top of the screen reads "Exam practice — not approved for real exams" and shows the time.
  6. To finish, tap End on the banner, then "End practice". "Keep going" closes the question.
