A random name picker for your class
Call on students fairly, pick helpers, make groups. Show it on the projector from your phone, and students can watch from theirs. No student accounts and no ads.
PickKeepers for iPhone and iPad is coming soon. You can try the free web version now at sviewstudios.com/pickkeepers/app/. Lock-in before the spin, proof links, the QR lobby and the one-device room demo arrive with the next PickKeepers version.
What teachers use it for
- Cold calling that feels fair. A spin or draw on the projector, with the result visible to the whole class.
- Take the winner out. Turn on remove winner so nobody is picked twice until you reset.
- Groups in a tap. Split the class into teams of balanced size, then read the teams from the board. See random team generator.
- Students join without accounts. They enter a code in a browser. Use first names or nicknames.
- Works offline on one device. Broadcasting to other screens needs a connection; picking on your own device does not.
Privacy for the classroom
There are no student accounts, no ads, and nothing is collected from students who join with a code. Use first names or nicknames. Proof links hide names by default and show entries as numbers, and a board is deleted with its entries when you are done with it. See the privacy policy for details.
Free, and honest about the paid part
The wheel, draw, raffle and team modes are free with up to 300 entries. PickKeepers Pro is an optional one-time upgrade (listed at $5.99) for things like saved lists and branding, not a subscription. Features that were free stay free.
Looking for a quiz or flashcards instead? See QuizKeepers and FlashKeepers. More tools on the classroom hub.
Questions
Is it safe for classrooms?
Yes. There are no accounts for students, no ads, and nothing is collected from anyone joining with a code. Use first names or nicknames.
Can I avoid picking the same student twice?
Yes. Turn on remove winner and each pick leaves the pool until you reset it.
Do students need devices?
No. The picker works on your device and the projector. Students can optionally join from a browser to watch, or to add their own name.
Does it work offline?
On a single device, yes. Showing the result live on other screens needs an internet connection.
Is it free?
Yes. The core modes are free with up to 300 entries. Pro is an optional one-time upgrade.
What PickKeepers is not
- Not a scoreboard, game clock, bracket, quiz or flashcard app. For those, see ScoreKeepers (a shared live scoreboard), ClockKeepers (a game clock and timers), BracketKeepers (tournament brackets), QuizKeepers (classroom quizzes), FlashKeepers (flashcards).
- Not a social giveaway tool. It does not log in to Instagram, TikTok or any account, and it does not pull comments. You bring the list, or people join the room.
- Not an account system. Hosts and participants need no sign-up, and the free version has no ads.
- Not a replacement for local raffle or lottery rules. If your raffle needs a license or a reporting step, that part is yours; PickKeepers only makes the draw itself easy to watch and check.
