Work with fractions
Add, subtract, multiply and divide fractions and get an exact fraction back.
Fractions keep an answer exact. 1/3 stays 1/3 instead of turning into 0.3333.
Some calculators have a fraction template key where you fill in the top and bottom. Others take a normal division and can convert the result to a fraction.
Classic Graphing 84
Start on the main screen: Press 2nd then mode (QUIT) to get back to the home screen. Pressing clear on a menu also backs out of it.
Type 1 ÷ 2 + 1 ÷ 3. The calculator shows a decimal unless you ask for a fraction.

Classic Scientific 30
Start on the main screen: Press 2nd then mode (QUIT) to leave any menu or screen and return to the calculation screen.
Press the n/d key, type 1, move right to the bottom with the right arrow keys, and type 2. Then move out of the fraction.
1n/d2▶Press + and make a second fraction, 1 over 3. Press enter.

You should see1/2+1/3 5/6
The key after n/d fills the bottom of the fraction. Press the right arrow when the bottom is finished.
Natural Scientific 991
Start on the main screen: Press MENU, then 1 (Calculate) to return to the main calculation screen. AC clears the line you are on.
Press the fraction key, type 1, press down to reach the bottom box, and type 2.
