An athlete mid-deadlift in a dark gym, lit by a cool blue rim-light
Progressive Overload Trainer · iPhone + Apple Watch

Every workout progresses.
You can see why.

A deterministic engine plans your training, adapts to your readiness from Apple Health, and shows you exactly why.

A real week. Weekly Focus turns the plan into three fair asks, not extra volume.
The method

An engine, not vibes.

Anneal runs the same deterministic, published rules on every workout, including the ones you build yourself. Tap any set and see exactly why it moved.

Why 5 × 90 lb?
Double progression: last session's 85.5 lb at RPE 8 becomes +2.5%, rounded up to plates your bar can actually build.
Bench press: estimated 1-rep max
12 weeks · the dip is the engine deloading you on purpose

Readiness

It knows when you’re drained.

Every morning, Anneal reads your HRV, sleep, and resting heart rate from Apple Health, then adjusts today’s training to match how recovered you really are. It only ever scales back, never past your plan.

HRV 48 msbelow your baseline
Sleep 6 h 10 mshort night
RHR 52 bpmnormal
Check-in“a bit beat up”

Readiness 62 → today’s top sets −5% load, volume held.
Rule: two low signals adjust load first. Tap for the rationale.
Momentum

Progress without the guilt.

Anneal’s streak is weekly, not daily, so one bad day never resets you to zero. Want a bigger goal? Trials are fixed challenges, up to 75 days, that forgive the same way.

Trials screen: Kindling (28 days) and The Seventy-Five (75 days) arcs, each with a Start button, on the You tab
Pick an arc, start when you’re ready.

Your gym, audited.

Tell Anneal what equipment you have, and it shows exactly which muscles and movements you can fully train today. If something’s capped, it even suggests the single best thing to buy next.

Equipment coverage matrix: muscle groups by movement pattern, marked fully trainable, limited, or untrainable, with a ranked gap list
Every muscle, graded against what you own.

There’s nothing to sign up for, and your training data lives on your iPhone unless you turn on optional sync. Even then, nothing is ever sold, shared, or used to track you.

FAQ

Fair questions.

When can I use it?

Now, on the App Store for iPhone (iOS 17+), plus Apple Watch.

Can I bring my history from another app?

Yes. Anneal imports CSV exports from Strong, Hevy and Fitbod (Settings → Data → Import CSV), and exports your own history as CSV any time, free. Your e1RM curve picks up where you left off.

Do I need an Apple Watch?

No. The Watch adds rest-timer haptics and wrist logging; everything still works phone-only.

Android?

iPhone first. Excellent beats mediocre on two platforms. We’ll revisit if earned.

Is this medical or rehab advice?

No. Anneal trains healthy lifters, caps load jumps conservatively, only ever reducing on low readiness. Pain or injury? See a professional.
