Anneal vs Fitbod

A Fitbod alternative that shows its work.

Fitbod and Anneal both plan your strength training on iPhone. They make different choices about how a plan is decided, what stays free, and what you pay. Here is a plain comparison so you can pick the one that fits how you train.

Who each app suits

Fitbod

Fitbod builds each session for you with its AI, drawing on a large exercise library and your training history. It suits people who want a fresh workout generated every day and are happy to let the app decide the details.

Anneal

Anneal runs published, deterministic progression rules (linear, double progression, tiered, undulating) on every workout, including the ones you build yourself, and explains each weight change in a sentence. It suits people who follow a program and want to see exactly why the bar moved.

Moving your Fitbod history to Anneal

Your past sets come with you, so your estimated 1RM curves pick up where they left off.

  1. In Fitbod, open the Log tab, tap the gear icon, and choose Export Workout Data to save a CSV file.
  2. In Anneal, open Settings → Data → Import CSV and pick the file.
  3. Review the preview (workouts, sets, and which exercises matched) and tap Import. Exercises Anneal doesn’t recognise are kept as custom exercises, never dropped.

Re-importing the same file is safe: sets already imported are skipped. Your Anneal history can be exported as CSV at any time, free.

Try a plan you can audit.

Three weeks of full access, then a free logger for as long as you like.
