Softfall support

Yes. Softfall is built to play all night with the screen locked. Use the Lock Screen or Control Center controls, or the widget, to pause or resume. If playback ever stops, check that no other app has taken over the audio, then press play again.

Set a duration and Softfall fades the sound out slowly. Alternatively, choose a quiet floor: instead of going silent, the sound settles to a low level that keeps masking noise until morning. You can change the timer at any time from the player.

Dawn works only while Softfall is still playing at wake time. If the sound faded out to silence earlier in the night, there is nothing running to wake you. Use a quiet floor instead of a full fade-out if you want dawn to follow, and keep a regular alarm as your backup.

An Apple Watch paired with your iPhone (iOS 26 or later), running a watchOS 26 or later, with the Softfall Watch app installed (it installs with the iPhone app; if it does not appear, open the Watch app on your iPhone, choose My Watch, then Softfall, then Install). Wind-down and stillness detection are part of Softfall Pro. Wear the Watch to bed, and allow motion and, optionally, Health heart rate access when asked. Softfall lowers the sound when you have been still, and raises it if you stir.

Open Softfall, go to the Pro screen and tap Restore Purchases. You need to be signed in to the same Apple Account that bought it. Purchases are handled by Apple, so we cannot see or restore them from our side.

Yes. Softfall Pro is a single purchase that your Family Sharing group can use. Family Sharing must be turned on for your family and for Softfall in your Apple Account settings.

Cry detection is optional and part of nursery mode. When you turn it on, Softfall uses the microphone and Apple's built-in sound classifier to listen for a baby crying, and gently lifts the sound. Listening happens in memory on your device. Nothing is recorded or sent anywhere. It is an aid, not a monitor: it can miss a cry or react to other sounds, so never rely on it to keep a child safe. It needs microphone permission, and it works best with the device placed away from the cot and with the sound at a low level.

Keep any sound machine well away from the cot, never place it inside the cot, and keep the level low, no louder than a quiet shower. Nursery mode includes a volume cap for this reason. Softfall is a sound tool, not a medical device. For advice about a baby's sleep or hearing, talk to your paediatrician.

The free app is a complete sound machine: every noise colour, a box fan, rain, wind, ocean and fire, two layers at a time, the timer and the widgets.
