Calculations in Run-Matrix

Order of operations, exact fractions, roots and π, decimals, scientific notation, Ans and history.

3.1Order of operations and negatives#

Powers and roots come first, then multiplication and division, then addition and subtraction. Brackets change the order. Use (−) for the sign of a number and − for subtraction.

a+b×c=a+(b×c)a+b\times c = a+(b\times c)
Multiplication happens before addition
Example 3.1

A negative number

  1. Type -5 + 2.

    (−)5+2EXE
