Count arrangements and selections (nPr and nCr)
Count how many ways to arrange or choose items from a group.
A permutation counts the ways to pick items when order matters, such as awarding gold, silver and bronze. A combination counts the ways when order does not matter, such as picking a committee.
With 5 people and 3 places: nPr gives 5 × 4 × 3 = 60 ordered arrangements, and nCr gives 10 different groups.
